Color-field Painting

Desarrollo

This term is used to describe some Abstract Expressionist artists' work, and is opposed to other techniques typical of this school. Color-field painting recovers the power of emotion, which it transmits through large canvases painted in only one or two colours. The nuances of expression are provided by the subtlety of the tonal range used, or the level to which it is complemented by other colours. It is radically opposed therefore to methods like dripping or action painting, which have a much more chaotic and complex application process.
